Juan Pablo 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 Does anyone how long it takes to become a resident of California? I am considering moving there from Texas in order to pursue my greatest dream of marrying my first cousin.
KC 64 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 You would have to search their laws, but I'm guessing 6 months. If you move there and rent/own a home, you are golden. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You do not need to be a resident to marry your cousin there.
Juan Pablo 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 Well I was just that I need to be a resident of California in order to file a petition to bring my fiance (first cousin) from Mexico to California and marry her. Do you know of a quicker way? We just want to be able to live together and not have to wait too long for the immigration process. I have thought about many options, but I do not know which one needs would be the best. What I don't want is moving to California and my family discovering our relationship and talking her out of our relationship.
KC 64 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 You may talk to a lawyer from CA. Off the top of my head, it seems that if you marry your cousin in Mexico, it should be easier to get her to the States. I would contact an immigration lawyer.
